We love both! We have stayed in Fort Walton more than Destin over the last few years as it is more of a quiet hidden gem just minutes from Destin. Destin is great for people who want to shop til you drop or go see the Bass Pro Shop to Destin Commons! Destin has lots of attractions and more of a city feel. Both are located close together so you can’t go wrong either way!

This could be a novel in itself! Our favorite dinner spots are Old Bay steamer, Captain Daves, Harbor Docks, Back Porch, The Gulf and Boshamps! For lunch we love Stewbys Shanty (one of the local favorites), the crab trap at the boardwalk, burrito de sol and Beach camp brewpub. For breakfast we recommend The donut Hole ( a must stop before leaving even if you get just donuts), Asiago Skillet, Beach View , the pancakery of Destin and another broken egg.
